Unique to owning a Makau 23 is the ability to add or delete major features and appointments without rebuilding the vessel.
For instance, you could start with an economical Open Boat model, then simply bolt on our Hawaiian Cab pilothouse later if your needs or desires change! Same goes for the optional flying bridge, etc.
Since every Makau is built to order, you can add options such as those listed or specify items that we can install on a time and materials basis. As long as your desired feature doesnt compromise structural integrity, we can build it on a custom basis.
Model Configuration Choices
The Makau 23 starts as an Open Boat with a fore-cabin, but you can choose many value and performance-enhancing options. How about a HUGE fishbox?
OPEN BOAT MODEL

EXPRESS MODEL

- Rocket launchers, welded or clamp-on (see, www.tacomarine.com or custom fabricated); attach to the one-piece vertical or horizontal aft support leg/hand rail (contracted separately)
- Venturi windscreen in 3/8" Plexiglass

The Express Model hard-top, available in 7 ft. or 9’ 9” lengths, is a sturdy and light-weight, one-piece molded fiberglass roof that bolts to a HD marine-grade frame structure. We provide recommended designs and structural requirements for all frames to be fitted to a Makau 23, but realize that some buyers might have their own design ideas and a metal fabricator of their own choosing. Because of these variables, and because of the choices in metal and finishing, we introduce clients to professional metal fabricators for independent contracting of this component. We assist with our experience and knowledge, but don’t fabricate frames ourselves. Our design parameters call for a frame that serves as a wire tunnel from dash to roof for antennae and electronics. It must incorporate heavy arched (gusseted) corners fore, aft and athwart ships. With hefty welded bases, through-bolted to a reinforced deck and command station, the frame should be built to support the optional Flybridge. Integral welded port and starboard hand rails double as fender or gear ties.
